Affinity to Arcane Magic

Sensitivity to Arcanite exists on a spectrum, from an inability to sense the field to the capacity to shape its energy consciously. Sensing magic does not by itself confer the ability to cast spells.

Not everyone can become a practising mage. Talent also requires training: a well-trained practitioner with modest natural ability may outperform someone with greater potential but little experience.

Ancestry does not guarantee magical aptitude. High Elves and their descendants are not invariably capable of arcane spellcasting. Heredity may play a role, but does not provide certainty. The frequency of aptitude in different populations and the mechanisms of inheritance remain undetermined.

Arvis's magical prominence may also reflect its education, traditions and local magical conditions. The relative contribution of these factors has not been established.
