Overview

Antadon carries part of the heritage of the fallen Kingdom of Antadour. House Argis retains the ducal throne, but the country remains subject to Venris. Duke Whyllis must defend Antadon’s interests while enforcing demands made by the power that helped it rebuild. Venrisian protection has become a lasting source of dependence and exploitation.

The Six Counties

Each county is governed by a noble house:

  • Antadon Grand County — House Argis of Antadon, combining established traditions with changes in government.
  • Cantaria — House Bottston.
  • Direshore — House Challinder.
  • Emberwich — House Rothsmert.
  • Barcevia — House Darkhaven.
  • Duskrun — House Broodsen.

The lesser houses owe fealty to House Argis rather than directly to King Rommald II Arenthon. This preserves local government, but gives the Duke no freedom from Venrisian demands. The Argis rulers bear part of the burden of extracting the contributions their overlord requires.

People and Resources

Antadon is home to several peoples and cultural traditions. Centuries of change since Antadour’s fall separate its society from the Old Antadians of the Dead Mountains. Their shared ancestry has not prevented mutual hostility. The Old Antadians remain isolated, speak Old Antadian and maintain no close relations with Antadonians.

Extensive forests in the northeast supply timber for the Duchy’s trade and industry.

Defence

The Falconguards form the Duchy’s disciplined army under ducal command. Each lesser house also maintains its own military unit. Every house sends a thousand recruits to Antadon every ten years to reinforce the Falconguards.
