Royal Government
Arvis is a unitary kingdom ruled by King Anarentias the Wise. Royal authority extends throughout the country, whose capital is Eshenserin.
Magical Traditions
Arvis shares cultural affinities with the wood elves of the southern regions, but its magical tradition follows a different course. Where the wood elves of Mansdon favour druidic practice, Arvis places arcane study at the centre of its intellectual life. Its practitioners develop their knowledge through study and training.
Arvisian Demography
High elves make up most of the population, alongside other elven peoples. The kingdom also welcomes half-elves. Many come to explore their elven ancestry and pursue arcane training with the guidance of their elven kin.
Academies and Research
Arvis attracts scholars and mages from abroad. Its academies and magical institutions study ancient texts, develop spells and conduct arcane research. Teaching and the pursuit of new knowledge occupy a respected place in the kingdom’s life.
Ancestral Knowledge
The high elves preserve ancestral teachings and traditions alongside their magical scholarship. Anarentias regards the protection of this inherited knowledge as part of his rule.
Names
Arvisian names draw on the elven language. High elven examples include Anarenthas, Seladriel and Alindra; half-elven examples include Elaris, Evanya and Thalindor.
