Family and Education
Ergenos is the son of Duke Whyllis Argis of Antadon and Lady Leadria Lightstrider, an Archmage of Arvis. His mixed ancestry and illegitimate birth left him carrying the expectations of a noble family without fully belonging to it. Leadria entrusted him to Whyllis’s care but remained involved in his education. His father loved him, though he was stern and demanding.
At sixteen, Ergenos went to the Mage’s Enclave in Cahaserin, Arvis’s second-largest city. He lived with his mother’s family, House Lightstrider, and studied magic under her guidance. There he met Elowenya Moonlithe, princess and heir to the throne of Arvis. Shared studies and a friendship marked by banter developed into a romance by their final year.
On the day of graduation, Elowenya ended the relationship because of her royal duties. Ergenos had completed his studies, but left without attending the ceremony. He chose to walk the sixteen hundred miles back to Antadon, a journey lasting sixty days. The separation left him increasingly bitter and cynical.
Venris and the Return to Antadon
Crossing the Bridge of Isaldell brought Ergenos into Venris, where outsiders, including Antadonians, faced local disdain. In Cité de Venris he met Darrig Lightstone, a boisterous and loyal dwarf from Direshore, and Elathir Timbervale, a reserved, observant elf newly arrived from Mansdon. Their shared difficulties and dislike of Venrisian pretensions drew them together.
Short of money, they accepted work fighting gargoyles beneath the city. Darrig’s strength, Elathir’s precision and Ergenos’s spellbow skills helped them survive the fighting and established their partnership.
After two weeks in the capital, Ergenos set out northwest for Antadon. Darrig and Elathir accompanied him, hoping to find somewhere to settle. On the journey, he spoke about Elowenya and his difficult relationship with Whyllis.
At Argis Manor, Whyllis expressed disappointment that his son had missed the graduation ceremony. Ergenos’s siblings — Avaliah, Thalari and William, Whyllis’s heir — welcomed him, while his return drew gossip among the nobles.
Harfdour and Fatherhood
The three companions enlisted in the Antadonian City Guard and earned respect for their work together. A vision from Saquirius then warned Ergenos of a threat in the Dead Mountains. He travelled north with Darrig and Elathir and found Raveth Etheyn raising an undead army in Harfdour, the former capital of Antadour. They defeated him and returned to Antadon as heroes.
Months later, Ergenos found Laura and Corrion at the doorstep of Argis Manor. The twins were only a few days old. A letter explained that they were his children by Elowenya; their sapphire eyes also marked their connection to House Moonlithe. He raised them with his family’s help, keeping their lineage known only within the Argis household. He taught them resilience, adaptability and loyalty, drawing on both sides of his heritage.
Command and Redstone Keep
Ergenos eventually became Commander of the Falconguard. During the war with Sahr, he was sent to defend Redstone Keep on Stalmont’s border, with Darrig and Elathir serving as his lieutenants.
The siege lasted days. When Thalrik Ironbrow, the keep’s dwarven leader, died, Ergenos assumed command. Only one hundred of the ten thousand defending soldiers remained standing, but the fortress held until reinforcements arrived. The Siege of Redstone Keep became one of the bloodiest battles in Lurra’s history.
Characteristics
Ergenos is arrogant, cynical and sharp-tongued, but also intelligent and perceptive. He prefers his own methods and can appear distant or individualistic. When his family, friends or country need him, he is quick to act on their behalf.

Graduate of the Arcane Academy in Arvis, Master's Degree in Arts of Spellbows.
