History
Eliendir Thorald, the Ranger-Captain of House Argis in the Dead Mountains, carries with him a legacy of resilience and a profound connection to the remnants of the Old Kingdom of Antadour. Born in the modest town of Northpoint, Eliendir's early life was marked by innocence and the warmth of a loving family. His parents, Thalorian and Elara, were skilled hunters who had instilled in him a deep reverence for nature and an unyielding sense of duty to protect his homeland.
Tragedy struck when Eliendir was just twelve years old, during a fateful night shrouded in darkness. The vile dark elves descended upon Northpoint with merciless brutality. The town's defenders, including Thalorian and Elara, fought valiantly to protect their homes, but the dark elves' overwhelming numbers proved insurmountable. The attackers broke through Northpoint’s defences and devastated the settlement, but did not establish a lasting occupation. Northpoint was later rebuilt. Eliendir lost everything he held dear that night. His parents were among the casualties, their memory eternally etched in his heart.
As an orphan left in the wake of the dark elf raid, Eliendir found himself taken into an orphanage with fellow orphans who had also lost their families that night. Together, they formed a bond that would be unbreakable, their shared pain strengthening their resolve to one day reclaim their homeland.
The years passed, and Eliendir grew in strength and determination. At the age of sixteen, he made a decision that would change the course of his life. He decided to undertake the arduous Ranger trials, a series of tests designed to forge the finest protectors the Dead Mountains had ever seen. With unwavering dedication, he honed his skills in archery, tracking, and survival, learning the ancient ways of his people.
Four years of relentless training and preparation culminated in Eliendir passing the Ranger trials at the age of twenty. He emerged as a fully fledged Ranger of the Dead Mountains, his proficiency with a bow earning him immediate recognition among his peers. His shots were said to be so precise that he could hit a bullseye from a hundred paces, even in the most treacherous conditions.
Eliendir's meteoric rise through the ranks was undeniable. His unwavering commitment to the preservation of Antadour's culture, language, and traditions resonated with the elders of House Argis. He became a symbol of hope and resilience for the Rangers of the Dead Mountains.
One particular feat catapulted Eliendir to legendary status among his people. During a harrowing encounter with an undead ogre in the desolate wilderness of the Dead Mountains, he displayed an uncanny combination of bravery and skill. Armed with his trusty bow and a heart aflame with determination, he unleashed a barrage of arrows that disarmed the monstrous creature from a staggering distance of six hundred feet. This heroic act not only solidified his reputation as one of the greatest archers in Lurra but also earned him the respect of all who bore witness to his incredible feat.
Eliendir Thorald, the Ranger-Captain of House Argis, stands as a beacon of hope for the Rangers of the Dead Mountains. He remains a stalwart protector of the remnants of the Old Kingdom of Antadour, leading his people from the Valley of the Fallen Kings. With each arrow he looses and each step he takes, he carries the weight of his past and the dreams of a brighter future for his homeland.
