Schools of Arcane Magic
Abjuration

Abjuration is the study of protective magic. The most generalized abjuration spell is Mage Armor, a spell that transmutes raw arcane energy into a barrier that protects the caster from attacks. Deep gnomes are known to have a specific innate abilities connected to this school of magic.
Conjuration

Conjuration is the study of magically creating creatures and objects. Creating lasting food or water requires substantial energy and is an emergency measure rather than routine provisioning. Temporary constructs are easier to sustain than permanent matter. Mages create and shape elemental effects through Arcanite. Shamans and druids can also work with the elements through nature magic. The difference lies in the source and practice, not in a distinction between “real” shamanic fire and “unreal” arcane fire.
Divination

Divination reveals information to the caster. Its uses include reading ancient scripts, identifying magical items and detecting invisible enemies. It does not grant omniscience: readings can be incomplete, obstructed or blocked, and require interpretation.
Chronomancy is a sub-school of Divination concerned with reading traces of past events and glimpsing possible futures. It cannot change the past or permit travel through time. A prophecy reveals possibilities rather than a guaranteed outcome; later decisions can change the future it depicts.
Enchantment

Spells within the School of Enchantment are designed to manipulate the mental state of the target. This entire school is very similar to hypnotism, where the affected creature may act completely differently than how they normally behave.
Evocation

The School of Evocation is the most difficult one to master. It involves manipulating pure arcane energies and weave the arcane to wreak destruction upon foes. Individual aptitude and training matter; High Elven ancestry does not guarantee the ability to cast spells.
Illusion

The School of Illusion is concerned with manipulating the various senses of people and creatures. This could be vision, hearing, or other various senses such as body temperature. Invisibility is the most popular spell of this school of magic.
Transmutation

Casters who study within the School of Transmutation are able to manipulate the physical properties of both items and people. Permanently turning copper into gold is advanced and normally costs more than the resulting gold is worth. Other advanced applications can transform a creature into another form, such as a grong. Transformation does not grant arcane practitioners the ability to heal.
Forbidden Arts
The Treaty of Eshenserin prohibits the arts below where its provisions are recognised and implemented. Practitioners of forbidden magic are called maleficars. Enforcement and penalties depend on the applicable law and agreements; neither the Association nor the Eye has automatic worldwide jurisdiction.
Necromancy

Necromancy is illegal in the great majority of the world, but is used in Angathor, where undead serve in the military and in heavy labour. This reduces the need for living workers and their provisions; living inhabitants still require food. Animating a corpse creates an undead being rather than restoring the deceased to life.
School of Necromancy involves manipulating the ebb and flow of different creatures’ life energy against their will, or the balance of energy between life and death. This can come across in the form of raising undead minions, draining life forces or using the arcane to alter people's living conditions unwillingly.
Demonology

Demonology is a school of magic derived from Conjuration that focuses on summoning, binding and controlling all sorts of demons, devils and aberrations from other planes of existence. It's practicioneer's are called "demonologists".
Epidemiology

Epidemiology is a school of magic that focuses on conjuring, infusing and releasing powerful and deadly poisons and diseases. Because diseases are widely known, many don't even consider that an epidemiologist may be responsible for it. Many of them live in seclusion, very oftenly succumbing to their own creations, but many learn how to control them and when it's the best time to use them.
Soulmancy

Soulmancy is a profound and enigmatic practice rooted in the realm of magic. It is the ancient art of manipulating and harnessing the raw essence of souls, tapping into their energy and unlocking their hidden potential. Soulmancers delve into the intricate interplay between life force and the ethereal realms, channeling and shaping the spiritual energies to achieve various effects. Through their deep understanding of the soul's intricacies, Soulmancers seek to empower or manipulate the essence of beings. Arcane soulmancy cannot heal or restore the dead to life. This arcane discipline requires immense skill, knowledge, and a profound respect for the delicate balance between life and death. Soulmancy stands as a testament to the ever-unfolding mysteries of the human spirit and the unresolved mysteries of the magical arts.
